Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have announced its plans for “Trolls 2”!
The good news is Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick will reprise their lovable roles as Branch and Poppy respectively. The bad news is we have to wait 3 years for it as it’ll be released on 10th April 2020.
However, Deadline revealed that the original director, Mike Mitchell (of “Shrek Forever After” fame), will not return for the sequel due to other commitments. He signed on to direct “The LEGO Movie 2” earlier this month.
The official plot for the sequel is as follows:
“Can’t stop the feeling as the colourful, wondrous Trolls return for ‘Trolls 2’, the follow-up to 2016’s breakout global hit about how far you’ll go for happiness… and how far you’ll go to get it back. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake reprise their roles as the eternal optimist Poppy and the curmudgeon Branch in the new musical comedy-adventure from the creators of ‘Shrek’.”
With a script by Erica Rivinoja, “Trolls” earned USD339 million worldwide. The musical also features the voices of British comedians Russell Brand and James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, electro-pop duo Icona Pop, singer Gwen Stefani, Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Quvenzhané Wallis, as well as John Cleese.
We’ll leave you now with it’s theme song, Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling”, which landed an Oscar nomination for best original song:
