“The Vampire Diaries” fans were devastated when actress Nina Dobrev left the series at the end of season 6. But after nearly 2 years, the actress will be back on the small screen as Elena Gilbert!
Dobrev took to Instagram to share a photo of her script with the caption, “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT. #BackOnSet #TVDForever.”
The title of the script reads, “I Was Feeling Epic”, and the episode was co-created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, with Plec attached to direct.
“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended — with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” said Plec, with Williamson adding, “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2015, Plec said, “Nina has always said that if there’s something for her to do in the series finale that she will be there to do it. When she left, she said, ‘I want to see this character to its end at the end of the show, so I can’t wait to come back and put her to bed again.’”
Based on L.J. Smith’s best-selling novel of the same name, “The Vampire Diaries” is set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town charged with supernatural history since the late 19th century.
The series finale airs 10th March at 8pm (ET) on The CW.
