This is absolutely wonderful! There’s going to be a new bakery in town, and not just any bakery.
One of the world’s best known pastry shops from Paris will be making its way to Kuala Lumpur. Can you guess which one? The original creator of macarons, Ladurée, is set to open its first Malaysian outlet here very soon.
Ladurée has been around for 155 years. It was founded by Louis-Ernest Ladurée in 1862, but it was his grandson Pierre Desfontaines who had the creative idea of combining 2 macaron shells together and adding a creamy ganache filling in between. The double-decker macarons was then introduced to the world.
Over the past few years, we’ve seen macarons becoming more and more popular among hipster cafes and artisanal bakeries. So far, Ladurée has more than 20 outlets in Asia including Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, and Hong Kong. As aforementioned, the pastry chain also belongs to Groupe Holder, which also owns another French bakery chain, PAUL.
No word yet on when Ladurée will be opening in Kuala Lumpur but it has been confirmed that its first outlet will be in Pavilion Couture Zone (Level 3). You can check out their official Facebook page for the latest updates.
UPDATE (23rd March, 10:30am):
Mark your calendars macaron lovers, Ladurée Paris will be making its debut in Pavilion sometime in May. So take advantage of the convenience and treat yourselves to some sweet desserts 😉
