“Ocean’s” alums George Clooney and Julia Roberts have teamed up again for their upcoming project, “Money Monster”.
Directed by Jodie Foster, George Clooney stars as the larger-than-life investment guru, Lee Gates, while Julia Roberts plays his ace producer and right hand Patty Fenn.
The film is about Lee Gates, a charismatic stock market expert, who is taken hostage on air by a rogue gunman named Kyle Budwell (played by “Unbroken” actor Jack O’Connell) while hosting his popular financial network show.
Gates, blamed for his bad advice after a recommended stock crashes, decides to help Kyle uncover the truth behind what really happened with the system that caused him to lose his money.
It’s interesting to note that “Money Monster” is the latest film to foray into the darker side of finance following “The Big Short”, “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “99 Homes”.
The trailer is fast-paced and intense. The fact that “Money Monster” takes place in real time and zooms in on a specific event makes it all the more accessible and compelling.
