Blackjacks, we think it’s time to face the facts.
On 25th November, YG Entertainment announced the disbandment of 2NE1 (투애니원). In an official statement, the South Korean entertainment powerhouse also confirmed that Sandara Park and CL have signed solo contracts.
Known for their eccentric concepts and addictive tunes, 2NE1 made their debut in 2009 with “Fire” and the group quickly became one of the most popular K-Pop idol girl groups in the industry.
Just moments ago, Dara and CL broke their silence on social media with heartfelt open letters to their fans.
Dara’s letter (Translation):
“To my Blackjacks,
I never knew I would be writing such a letter. Firstly, I’m sorry to break your hearts, I’m sorry I couldn’t keep us together, and I’m very sorry that I cause you pain. The past 7 years were really like a dream because of you guys, and it’ll be remembered fondly with happiness. CL, Bom, Minzy, and I .. Us four will always be grateful and will forever treasure those times as good memories. The existence of Blackjacks always give us love, support, and protection. I wanted to give you guys good music in return, but I’m so upset and sorry that we can’t… It hurts so much now, but let’s cheer up. I hope you guys strengthen up and do well in all you do. My heart towards you guys will never change, and I’ll work hard to always show a good side of myself. I can’t express everything with just the words ‘thank you,’ but thank you so much for your excessive love.
November of 2016 will be remembered as the most lonely winter of all..
2NE1’s cute vocal, Dara.”
