After nearly 40 years of keeping it a secret, actress-turned-writer Carrie Fisher has finally spilled the beans on her 3-month affair with Harrison Ford while filming the “Star Wars” in 1976.
In her new memoir, titled “The Princess Diarist”, Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the hit franchise, described her relationship with the Ford as “so intense”.
“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” said the actress.
When Fisher was 19 years old, she and Ford, then a 33-year-old married father of 2, spent their first night together after attending director George Lucas’ birthday party.
She added, “I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
According to E! News, Fisher also claimed that Ford once got her drunk and seduced her while they were filming in Tunisia. However, she pointed out that her affair with the the actor had nothing to do with his divorce with his then wife Mary Marquardt, saying that it ended “for reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with me”.
Their relationship ended when filming wrapped, but she looks back on their time together quite fondly. “I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind”.
