“Magic mirror, on the wall. Who is the fairest one of all?”
Disney is on roll! Shortly after announcing the live-action adaptions of “Aladdin” and “Mulan”, Disney has announced that “Snow White” will also be making it to the big screen too, with “The Girl on the Train” screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson attached to pen the script.
That’s not all, the upcoming fairytale movie will feature new songs written by “La La Land” songwriter duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who are an award-winning Broadway songwriting team.
Disney’s animated “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937) was the studio’s first animated feature film and it is based on a German fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. It won an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards and is considered as one of the most successful animated films of all time.
Prior to this, there have several live-action adaptions of the well-loved folklore, including “Mirror Mirror”, which stars Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, as well as “Snow White and the Huntsman” starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth.
No released date and casting details for the “Snow White” remake has been set yet, but it was reported that Marc Platt, who also is working with Disney on “Mary Poppins Returns”, will act as producer.
