The highly-anticipated romance drama, titled “The Legend Of The Blue Sea” (푸른 바다의 전설), is South Korean heartthrob Lee Min Ho (이민호)’s first television role since “The Heirs” (상속자들) in 2013.
In speaking with Chosun about his new character, the actor revealed that he’s actually nervous about showing viewers his performance.
“I’m nervous and excited to see how everyone will respond to it. I get to act out 2 roles on ‘The Legend of the Blue Sea,’ including one as a conman and so I’ll be able to show many diverse sides of myself to viewers. Please look forward to seeing them,” he said.
Penned by “My Love From The Star” writer Park Ji Eun, “The Legend Of The Blue Sea” is said to be a fantasy romance drama based on a Korean folklore about mermaids/mermen set in the Joseon era. It was recorded that real-life historical figure, Kim Dam Nyeong, released mer-people that were caught by fishermen back to the sea.
Jun Ji Hyun plays the last mermaid in the world who steps foot into a city for the first time while Lee Min Ho plays a genius conman named Heo Joon Jae.
“The Legend Of The Blue Sea” is SBS’ Wednesday-Thursday drama and it will premiere on 16th November at 10pm (KST).
