Grab has introduced a function for in-app communication, named as “Grab Chat”, and it is touted as the first instant messaging function in any ride-hailing app.
The function will be rolled out in phases, and Grab claims that it will “help drivers and passengers find each other faster”.
It will be free, so users and drivers won’t have to worry about being charged for SMSes and calls. Drivers will be able to send templated messages to passengers such as “I’m 2 minutes away“, and customers will be able to choose messages like “Are you nearby?” Users will also be able to communicate with drivers in order to easily identify each other, so both parties will be on their way in no time.
Wonder how to use the function?
Just ensure that your app has already been updated to the latest version (v4.6.6), if not, download it here. After booking your ride, you’ll be able to see a chat icon in the “Driver on the way” screen. That means that you’ll be able to send a friendly message to your driver!
