Vibrators and bombs can both sound equally suspicious.
That was what reportedly happened when a buzzing sex toy caused a slight panic at the Chiang Mai International Airport in Thailand when a staff from AirAsia mistook it for a ticking time bomb.
According to Britain’s Daily Star, the airport staff heard a loud buzzing and noticed something inside a green rucksack shaking as luggages were being load onto the plane on Wednesday morning (28th September).
Not wanting to take any chances, the personnel contacted bomb disposal experts to determined if the red bag contained any explosives. As it turns out, the sound had come from a silver bullet-shaped sex toy with a speed dial that has been accidentally switched on.
“We noticed the bag was shaking and there was a buzzing noise coming from inside. Obviously we were pretty scared because this could have been a bomb or some other explosive device. But when the experts arrived they opened up the package and it was just a sex toy,” a baggage handler told the news portal.
The handler added that the owner of the sex toy remained oblivious to the fact that this particular device had caused a security alert, saying, “I think they would be deeply embarrassed if they found out”. A Thai AirAsia spokesman stated that the item was not confiscated as it did not pose a threat to aviation security.
The AirAsia flight FD3438, scheduled to depart from Chiang Mai to Bangkok’s Don Mueang, was only delayed for 5 minutes and took off shortly after 8:30am.
Well, that was… anti-climatic.
