It’s only been a few weeks since production started for Sony Pictures’ “Jumanji 2”, and we’ve already been introduced to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the main cast members.
Today (Wednesday, 28th September), both The Rock and Nick Jonas took to Instagram to debut the first look of Jonas in full costume on set. “Officially welcoming my guy Nick Jonas to #Jumanji. Great dude, great positive energy and very talented. He’s gonna kill this role like I kill things with my bare hands. The jungle awaits. The adventure continues,” wrote Johnson.
The “Jumanji” sequel centres on 4 teenagers – portrayed by Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain, and Morgan Turner – who get sucked into a video game version of infamous board game. According to Angie Han, Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan represent the quartet’s avatars, who are on a mission to track down a jewel.
Although neither actor shed light on the character Jonas is playing, fans are guessing that he’s probably one of the characters from the game as opposed to one of the people from the real world, based purely on the costume that the musician is seen wearing in the image above. Plus also the fact that he’s seen hanging out with Johnson’s character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 27th September), Jonas also shared a photo of him goofing around with Black on set. As aforementioned, this project is not a reboot but rather a semi-continuation of the original film. It will also pay tribute to the late Robin Williams’ character, Dr. Alan Parish.
Directed by Jake Kasdan, the “Jumanji” sequel is set to release on 28th July 2017.
