Remember the brutal shooting that took place in front of Setapak Central Mall (previously known as Festival City Mall) 2 weeks ago?
A man believed to be involved in the shooting and killing of V. Kandasamy aka Kana has been detained to assist in the investigation. According to Bernama, the 34-year-old man was arrested in Sentul yesterday (Wednesday, 10th August) at 1am.
Kuala Lumpur Police CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa stated that the man had a previous criminal record of causing hurt and causing unintentional death. “The local man has been remanded for 7 days until Tuesday to assist investigation and to trace the other suspects,” said SAC Rusdi. Although he is not a suspect, the police are hoping he could shed light into the ongoing case.
On 27th July, 43-year-old moneylender V. Kandasamy was shot multiple times by 2 gunmen on motorcycles at the Jalan Taman Ibu Kota/Jalan Genting Klang traffic junction. The victim was reportedly a gang member of the Satu Hati Gang and his murder is believe to be linked to underworld activities.
As aforementioned, an unidentified family member revealed that Kana had been in hiding for several months as he knew he was wanted by gang members. He had shaved his head and according to an unnamed friend, the victim had sold off his Toyota Camry and bought a Honda Accord just 2 weeks prior to the incident.
