A new adventure has arrived for whisky lovers all over the city with Auchentoshan’s “The New Malt Order”.
To celebrate its launch, Auchentoshan, one of Scotland’s most unique single malt Scotch whiskies, has taken over W.I.P Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur.
Throwing out the old rule book, Auchentoshan (pronounced Aw-khen-tosh-an), which means “the corner of the field” practices triple distillation (the only Scottish single malt to do so) and delivers a revolutionary take on how single malt whisky should be discovered, enjoyed, and experienced.
Like its place of origin, famed for its art nouveau architecture, culture and thriving music scene, Auchentoshan embodies the magnetism and eccentricity of the urban jungle.
In speaking to us about Auchentoshan’s urban approach, brand ambassador Jamey Merkel explained, “The first thing you’re going to notice is the name. See in Scotland, they do this weird thing where words are not pronounced the same way they’re spelled. Auchentoshan is a Gaelic word for in the corner of the field because that’s how it started – as a cute little distillery in the corner of a barley field located. We’re located in the city of Glasgow, a major city in Scotland. Glasgow is like the Kuala Lumpur of Scotland. So as a whisky we grew up in the city. We used to be on the outskirts but over time as the city grew, we’re no longer in the corner of a field but in the middle of the city.”
“Growing up in an urban-setting..it means that we think differently as a whisky. We’re a little different than everybody else and that’s okay,” he added.

Daring to be different, Auchentoshan’s “The New Malt Order”, will take over W.I.P Bangsar for 2 weeks beginning 21st July 2016.
In true Auchentoshan style, the chosen venue will present a bold pop-up Taste Experiment Bar, allowing patrons an exciting way to customise how they experience the signature flavours of Auchentoshan – smooth and gutsy, approachable yet complex and secure enough to be enjoyed on the rocks or mixed into a cocktail. Taking inspiration from our local palate, guests will be able to put a fruity, citrus, spicy, or nutty spin on their Auchentoshan cocktail.
Also present at the W.I.P Bangsar takeover is guest chef Christopher Yee, who has been enlisted to add to the Auchentoshan taste exploration.
The trail-blazing food genius will be presenting his creative spin on pairing novel canapés with Auchentoshan, to bring out the delicate flavours of each expression. Urbanites will also be treated to progressive entertainment that is bound to thrill and delight.
