Spice Girls fans, your prayers have been answered! After numerous rumours and speculations, the Spice Girls have finally given us what we want, what we really, really want – by announcing their official reunion to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of “Wannabe”.
However, not all 5 members are in on the reunion. The new incarnation of the ’90s girl group, GEM (an acronym of each singer’s 1st names), will only consist of Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice).
The trio confirmed the much-anticipated news with a special 40-second video titled “Spice Girls GEM” on a new YouTube account and website of the same name. Sadly, the 2 other members of the Spice squad – Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) – were not featured in the clip.
“We’ve been thinking, we have the best fans in the whole entire world. You stood by us for 20 years and we want to say thank you. We’ve had our ups and downs, but you’ve always been there. And we want to celebrate and have a party — and when we do, you’re all invited!” the threesome says in the video.

While no dates or official plans have been revealed, Independent UK reported that the 3 Spice Girls have already booked a date at Hyde Park for next year. Amidst the news of this reunion, Beckham has maintained that she has no interest in pursuing music again and is focusing on her family and her successful designer fashion range.
“She has been very respectful about the fabulous time they had together in the past, however her focus is now very much her family and fashion business,” Beckham’s rep previously told TMZ. Having said that, an insider revealed that “there’s a small chance she’ll film something with them or make an appearance at a show here and there“.
Although Mel C is isn’t ruling out her participation in the reunion entirely, the singer currently wants to concentrate on her next solo record. “I am keeping tight-lipped. There are lots of discussions going on. Right now I am in the studio working on my own album and that is my focus. I’m taking it slowly,” she told The Sun UK.
