In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya festive season, Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) has announced that it will be providing 6 more Komuter trains.
The additional trains, which will run from 1st – 10th July, will only involve the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route. According to KTM Komuter Service general manager Azsnidah Shah Shahari, waiting time is expected to be reduced from 2 hours to 1.
“On normal days, we provide 14 train services, involving the 3 routes, namely Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth, Butterworth-Gurun-Butterworth, and Butterworth-Kamunting-Butterworth, but for Aidilfitri this year, we will provide 6 additional trains for the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route,” Azsnidah told Bernama.
“Passengers on normal days numbered around 3,000 daily, but it is expected to double up during the festive season. It is hoped that with the 20 trains to be make available from 1st to 10th July, the increased number of passengers will be well accommodated,” she added.
