Oh no! Another high-profile Hollywood marriage is calling it quits.
E! Online has confirmed that actress Amber Heard filed for divorce from her husband of 15 months, Johnny Depp, in Los Angeles Superior Court due to “irreconcilable differences”.
And guess what? The divorce documents stated that the pair were separated on Monday, 23rd May – 2 days after the actor’s mum, Betty Sue Palmer, died 🙁
According to an inside source, it appears that the couple didn’t have a prenuptial agreement in place and the actress is asking for spousal support. Unfortunately for Heard, TMZ reported that the actor has filed his response through his lawyer, Laura Wasser, asking the judge to reject her claim for spousal support.
The pair got engaged over the holidays in 2012 and tied the knot on the “Pirate Of The Carribean” actor’s 45-acre private island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay, in the Bahamas on 3rd February 2015 with just 24 guests in attendance.
52-year-old Johnny Depp and 30-year-old Amber Heard met on the set of “The Rum Diary” in 2011. They officially stepped out as a couple in 2012 after the actor spilt with long-time lover, French singer Vanessa Paradis, whom he had 2 children with.
Earlier this year, the couple grabbed tabloid headlines for not declaring their 2 terriers, Pistol and Boo, to immigration officials. They then filmed an apology video, which was not very well received, urging tourists to “declare everything when going to Australia”.
Both artistes have yet to comment on the divorce news and it’s probably because Depp has been busy touring with his band, Hollywood Vampires, and promoting Disney’s upcoming fantasy film, “Alice Through The Looking Glass”, that is slated for release on 27th May.
We don’t know about you guys but we’re pretty shocked that the Hollywood A-listers are splitting.
