Chewbacca Mum became an overnight internet sensation after she livestreamed a video of herself laughing hysterically in a Chewbacca mask that she bought from Kohl’s at a carpark. The viral video has gained over 140 million views and it is now the most-watched Facebook live video of all time.

The 37-year-old stay-at-home mum appeared on the popular American late night show on Monday (23rd May) and during the show, Corden surprised her by reading out a message that was written to her by the real Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew!
The heartwarming message reads:
“Candace, you are an inspiration. Your attitude and lovely message really resonates and spreading the message the good word of Star Wars with a heart, well, it’s so much of why we do what we do.

I’d love to get to meet you and your family in person. In 2 weeks we have a Dallas Fan Expo in your own hometown and my hometown. I have acquired 4 VIP passes for you and your family to come with the show. I’ve also set up a private meet and greet so we can catch up whilst you are there. All my love, Peter.”
Not only did the Texan mum get to meet the director of “Star Wars”, she spent a whole day with Chewbacca in the Facebook headquarters, got a $2,500 gift voucher from Kohl’s, and even appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) in New York City.
When asked by GMA why she thinks she’s so famous, Payne replied, “The world, as a whole, is in need of a good laugh”. She added that sharing joy with others is the best part of the whole “Chewbacca Mum” experience. Aww :)
