It’s been a while since we heard about “Boys Over Flower” actor Kim Hyun Joong. But before we give you updates about him, here’s a little recap of what happened:
Since 2014, there has been ongoing drama between the SS501 leader and his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Choi. It all began with a domestic/physical abuse controversy, which then led to an open apology/confession from the star. After that, Ms. Choi gave birth to a baby that was confirmed to be Kim Hyun Joong’s child following a paternity test that was conducted last December.
On 26th February 2016, Kim Hyun Joong’s lawyer stated, “The defendant (Kim Hyun Joong) wants to raise the defendant’s child,” during the first paternity suit between Ms. Choi and the idol which took place at Seoul Family Court.
Fans have been keeping an eye out for the outcome and at long last, the wait is finally over because the court wrapped up the case privately yesterday (25th April).
“The courts ruled that both parties (Kim Hyun Joong and Ms. Choi) will have joint custodial rights over the child. The child’s caretaker was not designated. Though the parental rights have been ruled as joint custody, there could be another lawsuit from the plaintiff’s side (Ms. Choi) for sole custodial rights over the child. We foresee another lawsuit related to the parental rights in the future,” the singer’s lawyer told Star News.
We are not sure when Ms. Choi will be filing another lawsuit to completely take over her child’s custody rights, but we do hope that this decision by the court will make Kim Hyun Joong a good father and a better person.
