Watch out Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa is here and she’s about to wreak havoc on earth.
Although the upcoming “Power Rangers” reboot features a main cast of primarily lesser-known actors, the film does include one proper A-list star among its acting ranks: Elizabeth Banks, who will play the Rangers’ famous enemy, Rita Repulsa, the alien witch who is hell-bent on taking over earth.

Unlike the villain in the original series, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, the new Rita Repulsa is more outlandish and now dons a reptilian-like green getup and hair, with dangerous gold talons to match. She even has some sort of whip as a weapon instead of a staff that casts magic spells.
“I’ve never played a villain before. [I’m looking forward to] world domination – and being unpredictable as a character. It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers,” said Banks about taking on the villainous role.
The reboot, based on the classic 90s television show, follows 5 super teens better known as the Blue, Yellow, Black, Pink and Red Rangers in their quest to take down Repulsa, the evil humanoid alien witch who intends to obliterate planet Earth. Chosen by destiny, our heroes will have to set aside personal issues and band together as Power Rangers in conquering evil.

Earlier last month, Entertainment Weekly unveiled the first image of our new heroes posing without their power suits. From left to right, that’s R.J. Cyler as Billy (the Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly (the Pink Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack (the Black Ranger), Becky G as Trini (the Yellow Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery as Jason (the Red Ranger).
The “Power Rangers” reboot is expected to hit theatres on 24th March 2017.
