Scrat the sabertooth squirrel is making one small step for his kind in the space, but one giant mess for the entire universe.
20th Century Fox has released the first official poster and trailer for Blue Sky’s “Ice Age: Collision Course”, the 5th installment of the animated family-film franchise.
The animated sequel is the 4th sequel in the “Ice Age” series that started out back in 2002. It will continue the adventures of Scrat (voiced by franchise director-producer Chris Wedge), Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo), Diego (voiced by Denis Leary), and Manny (voiced by Ray Romano).
As you can see from the trailer, most of the footage from the “Cosmic Scrat-tastrophe” short are inserted in it, showing how Scrat causes an asteroid to fly towards Earth.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, traveling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colorful new characters.
The first film was met with mostly positive reviews and was a box office success by grossing over USD383 million. It spawned 3 more sequels in the following years, including “Ice Age: The Meltdown” in 2006, “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” in 2009, and “Ice Age: Continental Drift” in 2012. The last 2 installments alone took in more than USD850 million worldwide.
The new installment is expected to be a box office success as well as it will feature some new and returning cast members. The returning cast members include Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes, and Jennifer Lopez. Joining the sequel anew are Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
