Planning to head towards Kuala Lumpur later tonight? Well, you better avoid the Cheras-Kajang highway.
According to The Star Online, MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd announced that the Cheras-Kajang highway will be closed for 14 nights from 15th (today) to 30th December.
The road closure is to facilitate the painting of SBG’s pier 55 to pier 57, a segmental box girder in the Mass Rapit Transit (MRT) construction. It will start from 11pm to 6am daily, affecting both Kuala Lumpur-bound and Kajang-bound parts of the highway. During the closure, only 2 lanes will be made available for motorists from KL to Kajang.
The KL-bound closure will affect 400 metres of the Cheras-Kajang Highway. Motorists can take an alternative road to Bukit Duking/Taman Koperasi Cuepects and use Jalan Cheras Lama to get to Kajang.
Meanwhile, the Pekan Batu 11/Balakong road will be closed for 16 days for the same reason, beginning from 16th (Wednesday) to 31st December between 11pm to 5am.
From 16th to 23rd December, motorists from Pekan Batu 11/Balakong heading towards KL/Cheras will be directed to turn right into Cheras-Kajang Highway (Kajang bound) and make a U-Turn at the flyover at the Sungai Long interchange. Motorists on the Cheras-Kajang Highway can also head back to KL/Cheras by using the Bukit Dukung U-Turn route
However, starting from 24th to 31st December, both the right-most lanes near the traffic light junction of Pekan Batu 11/Balakong (Kajang and Balakong bound) will be closed for motorists. Only one lane will be made available for each direction.
“There would be a road closure in front of Pekan Batu 11 MRT Station at 15.5KM until 17km, Cheras-Kajang Highway on 18th until 31st December from 12am until 5am, intermittently,” the company added.
