Former frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver Scott Weiland has died.
According to various reports, he was found dead in his tour bus shortly before he was supposed to perform. He was on tour with his solo band, The Wildabouts, in Minnesota. That Minnesota show has since been cancelled.
The LA Times quoted his wife Jamie Weiland as saying, “I can’t deal with this right now. It’s true.” as she confirmed the news.
Jane’s Addiction guitarist and singer-songwriter Dave Navarro also posted up a (now removed) Twitter update which read:
Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.
Scott Weiland was only 48 years old. No cause of death has yet been revealed.
UPDATE (4th December, 3:05pm):
An official statement has gone up on Scott Weiland’s Facebook page, confirming the above news. It also said that Scott passed away in his sleep but no further details regarding the cause of his death has been released:
