Fans of 2NE1 have been waiting and anticipating for CL’s US solo debut for the longest time. The 2NE1 leader, who would be the first among the members to make a US solo debut, has been working hard on her new album since announcing the news last October. The announcement came after the group wrapped up promotions for 2NE1’s “Crush” and the group’s “All Or Nothing” world tour.
After working on the album for almost a year, the singer will finally show the world what she has in store soon as she is expected to make her US debut next month (September).
On 3rd August, Korean media outlet Star News reported that CL had already finished recording for the tracks that will be included in her upcoming US album. The filming for her music videos will begin this month and it was highlighted that a total of 2 music videos will be filmed, one in South Korea and one in the US. The article concluded with CL possibly starting the promotions for her debut by next month.
CL has been working on her album with a slew of famous producers and musicians including Sean Garrett, Justin Bieber, Psy, Florence + The Machine, Diplo, and Ariana Grande’s manager Scooter Braun. She was listed as one of “15 Female Rappers to Watch in 2015“ by VH1 earlier in January this year. Fuse TV, on the other hand, listed her as one of “10 Breakout Artists for 2015”. Other platforms, such as Rolling Stones, Billboard, MTV Iggy, Dazed & Confused and more, have also shown their interest in CL.
No other details regarding her album were revealed, but YG Entertainment commented that CL may reunite with her 2NE1 members for a comeback scheduled for next year.
