Although most of the original cast members from the “Jurassic Park” series did not return to reprise their respective roles in “Jurassic World“, the film opened with a bang at the box office.
With Chris Pratt starring in the lead role, one can only hope that he will return to the big screen for his role as the charming Owen Grady. Now, it looks like Universal Pictures has heard our prayers because the movie will be getting a sequel in 2018.
That’s right. More dinosaurs awesomeness and more Chris Pratt for everyone 😀
According to Variety, the sequel will see its release on 22nd June 2018, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning to reprise their respective roles. Steven Spielberg will also return to executive produce it through his Amblin Entertainment banner. Frank Marshall will return to serve as a producer for the film.
The film does not have a director yet, but Colin Trevorrow, who directed “Jurassic World”, will return to pen the script. He will co-write the screenplay with Derek Connolly.
The announcement came a day after the news that “Jurassic World” became the 3rd top-grossing film of all-time. It surpassed Marvel‘s “The Avengers” by dominating the box office and grossing $1.52 billion in ticket sales.
No further details were revealed regarding the sequel, but the plot may continue to revolve the theme park and the lead characters portrayed by Pratt and Dallas Howard. Who’s excited? 😉
