It’s a match!
Popular dating app Tinder has come a long way from when it was first introduced about 2 maybe 3 years back. It’s innocent tagline, “Discover those around you”, the app lets you have a look at the person nearby and all it takes is a simple swipe right (if you’re interested) and left (if you’re not). Of course, these swipes are anonymous so you will only get notified if the person you swiped right on, is interested in you too.
Having worldwide popularity, the growing dating app introduced a premium version – #TinderPlus. Yes, by premium it meant that Tinder users will have to start paying for the app, but that’s only if they choose to use the premium one. Now, taking things to a whole new level, Tinder has launched its first verified profiles on the app.
The firm is believed to have been testing the feature for several months, and says it will give the blue tick to celebrities, athletes and notable public figures. It also revealed that there are 26 millions matches made daily on Tinder.
‘Tinder: it’s how people meet. Each day, 26 million matches are made on Tinder, and we do our best to keep those matches real — that’s why we’re rolling out Verified Profiles. Starting today, you may see a verified symbol on some profiles. Now when notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations, you’ll know it’s for real,” the company explains in a press release.
Earlier this year, Tinder CEO Sean Rad revealed that stars like Jamie Kennedy, Josh Groban and Lindsay Lohan are all real members of the app but they actually get more left swipes than anyone because users think it’s a prank. Other celebrities on Tinder include Katy Perry, Hilary Duff and Britney Spears.
So remember, the next time you come across a celebrity profile on Tinder, think twice before swiping left because it’s not a prank. 😉
Have fun swiping away ya’lls!
