The “Fast & Furious” franchise won’t ever be the same again without Paul Walker, but Vin Diesel shows us that it could be just as awesome.
In an Instagram post, the actor teased fans with a “Fast & Furious 8” promo photo/poster. Cast member Ludacris also posted the same photo on his Instagram as well.
The Brooklyn Bridge can be seen amongst the New York skyline in the photo, which seemed to confirm that the new movie will be set in New York City, as hinted by Diesel. The blood-splattered metallic logo also seemed to suggest that the high octane sequel will be a lot more grittier than the previous films.
No official source has disclosed anything about the storyline, but fans of the franchise are speculating that the 8th instalment could see Dominic Toretto and his band of outlaws facing “the shadowy government forces” controlled by Mr. Nobody (played by Kurt Russell).
This piece of rumour was further confirmed when Diesel let slip a crucial piece of information during his appearance in “Jimmy Kimmel Live“. He said:
I always think of these films multiple pictures in advance. Kurt Russell came in for this movie but we really hired him for a story that follows this that takes place in New York.
When asked if Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be returning for the sequel, both of them answered in the affirmative.
With his Instagram post, it seems like Ludacris has also jumped aboard the production as well. Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Else Pataky are also expected to reprise their roles, but it is unsure if Jordana Brewster and Jason Statham will return.
“Fast & Furious 8” is currently slated for release on 14th April 2017.
