Keira Knightley has just begun the role of a lifetime: motherhood.
Multiple sources told E! News that the 30-year-old actress and her musician husband James Righton have recently welcomed their first child into the world.
The pair met through mutual friend Alexa Chung in 2011 and began dating after Keira ended her 5-year relationship with actor Rupert Friend. Although the couple kept their relationship under the radar, they made their love life no secret by regularly flaunting their relationship near their East London home.
Following a 15-month courtship, the actress’ spokesperson confirmed that she was engaged to James. In 2013, they held an intimate wedding ceremony at the town hall in Mazan in the South of France.
Although People Magazine confirmed Keira’s pregnancy earlier in December last year, the actress first opened up about the perks of pregnancy while walking the Golden Globes red carpet with her growing baby bump in January.
“Luckily, I don’t have lipstick. I only have nuts in here. It’s the wonderful thing about being pregnant. You just need to make sure you have snacks. So this is a snack bag,” she told Entertainment Tonight of her clutch.
Though the gender of the baby is still being kept under wraps, Keira has openly admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that the thought of having a baby boy frightened her.
She said during a February appearance:
Somebody said to me the other day, the problem with boys is — sorry, this is horrible — but when you’re changing their nappies, you can get the wee in your face.
She also joked to Ellen that her “whole birthing plan” was just to “get it (the baby) out”. “There isn’t an option to sort of keep it in, is there?” she jokingly said to Ellen DeGeneres. “So, I’m assuming my plan is to get it out. But apparently there’s more to the plan than that. I don’t know what that is. Still, my plan is to get it out. It will come out.”
Keira made no secret that all she really wanted to do is have a drink after giving birth. “When can I drink? Please?” she joked to the talk-show host. “I just want a margarita!”
Speaking to E! News, “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum believes that Keira, who was his film’s leading lady, is “going to be a wonderful mom”. “She’s a wonderful person!” He said, “She’s so sincere, so loving and her husband is great and they’re such a great couple.”
Aww. We’re pretty sure that Knightley is going to be a great mom 😉 Congratulations to the new parents!
