Much like the music video itself, the song “Man on the Moon” has this fresh originality accompanied with Moses Sumney’s soothing vocals.
The music video, directed by Christian Robinson, is visually pleasing as it features an imaginative universe created by using arts and craft materials such as buttons, paints, and paper. The song bears a striking resemblance to Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Like a Star” but both songs have very different vibes as “Man on the Moon” gives off a slightly more bubbly tune. However, the song is soulful and clears our heads with its dreamy soundscape.
It was almost as if the song is made fit for our dreamland.
The LA-based singer Moses Sumney released the music video 2 weeks ago as an effort to promote his new EP “Mid City Island”. According to Saint Heron, Sumney recorded the songs on an 1980s 4-track recorder and described the EP as “a lo-fi experimental concept project”.
With that in mind, it is no wonder that every song in his album has a nostalgic flair as compared to today’s mainstream music. The singer also once mentioned in an interview that one of his career highlights was performing a gig with our local singer-songwriter Zee Avi.
“Man on the Moon” may be the perfect song to wind down and relax on the weekends but we love all the other songs in his EP as well. “Mid City Island” is now available to download for free on his Soundcloud.
