Diwali also called Deepavali also known as the festival of lights is a five-day Hindu festival which starts on Dhanteras and ends on Bhaubeek. Celebrated by Hindus all around the world, Diwali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji.

The celebration usually sees a row of lamps or lightings of small clay clamps decorated around houses to signify the triumph of good over evil. Left lighted during the night, the lamps are also a way to let goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. The celebrations is followed by burning firecrackers at night and an array of scrumptious array of food that is shared with family and friends.
