The Vampire Diaries actresses posted a photo of her posing topless on Instagram to promote and show her support for Obamacare. Covered by only a card that read #getcovered, a reference to President Obama’s ‘Affordable Care Act’, the twenty-four year old actress used this as a platform to create awareness amongst the American public about the healthcare benefits provided by the new federal statute and how it makes health insurance affordable and accessible to those who can’t afford it.
The caption on Nina’s photo read “Im Canadian. We have healthcare for all. If you dont have insurance go and #GetCovered, Because w/o it, you’re naked.”
Other high profiled celebrities have also used social media platforms to try create awareness about the new health act. American rock band Pearl Jam tweeted “If you want to make sense of the whole healthcare thing, or just want to #GetCovered, check out www.healthcare.gov #KnowYourOptions”. Julianna Moore, Kerry Washington, Sarah Silverman and John Legend are also amongst the many celebrities who used the #getcovered slogan on Twitter.
