Justin Bieber is the latest star to sign on for a trip into space on Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic mission. Leonardo diCaprio and Ashton Kutcher have already committed to the microgravity flights, the Sun reports.
In February, Bieber tweeted, “I wanna do a concert in space”.
Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun have each paid US$250,000 ($263,000) to join the mission. Richard Branson confirmed it when he tweeted the following:
The Virgin spaceship went through its first supersonic flight in April. Passengers on the missions, slated for next year, will go to the edge of space and experience weightlessness for several minutes.
Also rumoured to want to make the space flight are actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as music superstars Beyonce and Jay Z.
The musical power couple are said to want to record the first music video in space, but may find they’ve been pipped by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who uploaded a video of himself performing David Bowie’s Space Oddity on board the International Space Station in May.
