If you weren’t busy watching the game or Beyoncé’s + Destiny Child’s performance, then perhaps you would’ve noticed the Super Bowl XLVII ads. The beauty of and greatest challenges about getting ads into Super Bowl spots is that companies would usually get a mind-blowing amount of people looking at their ads (Super Bowl is the most-watched television program in the history of..history) but is also really expensive to do so.
See, the average cost of a 30-second advertisement is priced at USD4 million. Thus, you can imagine that only high-profile, major brands would come in as advertisers. And even so, these brands will need to come up with an ad short enough yet strong enough to create an impact, for all the dough that they’re dishing out for it. (Source)
We sieved through some of this year’s ads and picked out what we thought were the top 5 Super Bowl XLVII ads!
Volkswagen – “Get In, Get Happy”
The absurd accent might annoy in the beginning (what Jamaican accent from a white guy what, what?) but give it just a few seconds before you break into a smile. Our favourite line from the minute-long ad has got to be, “Don’t fret me, brother, da sticky bun come soon!”. That’s right. Admit it. You smiled.

Budweiser – “Brotherhood”
Budweiser has been a Super Bowl advertiser for as long as we can remember so we’ve been keeping an eye out for theirs! Oh my goodness this one is such a tearjerker. It touched our hearts in ways more than just one and we’re pretty sure it’ll do the same to you.

Kia – “Space Babies”
Every once in awhile, a growing child would ask his/her parent, “Where do babies come from?”. It’s as good as asking a parent to come up with an impromptu fairytale with no sexual connotations whatsoever. This one takes the cake. Now excuse us while we wipe away the tears from our eyes.

Oreo – “Whisper Fight”
We don’t even really get what this one is all about but it sure is hilarious as heck. So nice of them to keep a fight down in a libary, no? Pity that it’s only 30 seconds long (remember, millions, MILLIONS!). Can we go have an Oreo cookie now please? Just the cookie, not the cream, duh.

Samsung Mobile USA – “The Next Big Thing”
We love the brand. We love the products. We love Paul Rudd. And this one is two minutes long. Two minutes. Count it. No, really count it.

Now that we’ve gotten those out of the way, who knows how to get to “Babylandia”?
