So who would’ve guessed that just five years after their marriage, Katie Holmes would be filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences?
Yes, this morning, the world reeled from the news of their split. We can’t say we saw it coming!
What’s more shocking is that news reports have also included the fact that Katie is requesting for sole custody of their daughter. Apparently, she holds great fears that Tom Cruise would drag six-year-old Suri into the Church of Scientology and therefore, is refusing to let him have control over decisions relating to Suri’s religion.
Well, you know, we always thought that Katie was a-okay with Tom’s religion considering her immediate conversion and their elaborate Scientology wedding five years ago!
But we guess it’s always easy to be blown away by all the romance, love, fame, fortune, private jets, and shopping sprees when you’re young. Even that gets too much. Once the “love goggles” were removed, Katie decided that she has had enough.
While Tom is deeply saddened by this move and everybody is dying to dig deeper into this, Katie’s lawyer, Jonathan Wolfe said, “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family.” and Tom’s representative, Amanda Lundberg added, “Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”
Cue to heave a sigh right about now. Sigh!
