20 People Caught Enjoying Wild Party At Rented Bungalow In Penang

The people are suffering – both financially and mentally. Despite alarming new Covid-19 cases on a daily basis, a few bad apples have completely ignored the severity of the situation for their own selfish enjoyment.

Case in point: 20 friends – 13 men and 7 women aged between 17 to 25 – were caught enjoying a wild party past midnight over the weekend. The venue was a rented bungalow in Taman Star Hill, Bukit Gambir in George Town, Penang.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the anti-vice, gambling, and secret societies division (D7) of the Penang contingent police headquarters raided the place at approximately 12:30am. Out of the 20 individuals (all of whom were locals working as factory workers, food delivery riders, and shop assistants), 17 tested positive for drugs.

“Initial investigations revealed they had rented the bungalow for a day at RM800 through Facebook to party. During the raid, police also found syabu, condoms as well as audio equipment. Urine tests on 12 men and 5 women came back positive for methaphetamine,” said State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rahimi Ra’ais.

It is understood that some of the partygoers had even crossed district borders to meet up after not seeing one another in person throughout MCO. The case is now being probed under Section 269 of the Penal Code as well as Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
