Two new drops with totally different moods, and both deserve your attention.
Vans and New Balance are back with collabs that blend art and style. From Yusuke Hanai’s chill autumn vibe to Daniëlle Cathari’s sweet minimalism, these sneakers show that simple can still stand out.
Yusuke Hanai x Vans Premium Authentic

Vans is teaming up once again with Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai, and this time, they’re diving deep into the wistful beauty of autumn. The new Yusuke Hanai x Vans Premium Authentic collection captures the quiet melancholy of the season, where soft sunlight filters through drifting clouds, and a man shares a quiet moment of reflection with his loyal cat. It’s calm, poetic, and unmistakably Hanai.

Swapping out the Old Skool from their previous collab, this round spotlights the Vans Premium Authentic, reimagined with Hanai’s signature storytelling touch. The upper and foxing tape feature hand-drawn illustrations of a man and his cat gazing at the sky. Beneath the translucent rubber waffle sole, a hidden artwork adds a subtle, sentimental twist that feels like a secret only the wearer knows.

To complete the mood, Vans is also dropping a full apparel lineup alongside the kicks. Expect understated pieces in olive, black, and white—from hoodies and coach jackets to baggy pants and beanies—all adorned with Hanai’s charming art and classic “OFF THE WALL” detailing. It’s the kind of collection that whispers emotion rather than shouts it, perfect for those who find beauty in simplicity.

The Yusuke Hanai x Vans Premium Authentic retails for ¥11,500 JPY (~RM365) and is now available at Vans JP online and select stores.
Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 “Reverse Matcha”

Amsterdam-based designer Daniëlle Cathari is back with another stylish collab with New Balance, and this one’s a delicious twist. Dubbed the “Reverse Matcha”, the upcoming 991v2 takes everything fans loved about the original “Matcha” release and flips it on its head. It’s the same blend of luxury and minimalism, but with a new flavor.

Instead of the creamy green suede and brown mesh of its predecessor, the Reverse Matcha switches things up with chocolate brown suede overlays and a pistachio green mesh base. The contrast is rich yet refreshing, keeping Cathari’s clean aesthetic intact while adding just the right amount of playfulness. And of course, the classic two-tone white and cream midsole stays—grounding the look in New Balance’s timeless Made in England craftsmanship.

While the first “Matcha” pair took cues from the ever-trendy green latte aesthetic, the Reverse Matcha is inspired by Cathari’s love for desserts—sweet, comforting, and just a touch indulgent. It’s more than just a sneaker; it’s a refined treat for minimalists who like their style with a bit of flavour.

The Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 “Reverse Matcha” was released in limited quantities through Kith Women. Most pairs are gone, but you can still find a few on Kith’s website or resale platforms.
