Local annual music and arts showcase, Good Vibes Festival is back – bigger than ever!

This year’s Good Vibes Festival will take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur. Unlike previous years, this music gala will go on for three days – From 21st to 23rd July. Earlier this week, Good Vibes Festival announced the lineup of musical acts set to appear on the festival.

The Strokes, The 1975 and The Kid Laroi are set to headline the 10th year of the Good Vibes Festival. Other international acts that have been announced so far include Sabrina Carpenter, Dhruv, ALYPH, DPR Live and also DPR Ian. However, it appears that others were less than ecstatic after realising how expensive the price of the Good Vibes Festival cost.

According to its official website, the 3-day passes will be sold in three phases – Phase 1 tickets priced at RM788 (22nd February until 5th March), phase two at RM888 (6th March until 7th May) and Phase 3 for RM988 (8th May onwards). They also offer the “Squad Goals (Bundle of five passes)” tickets for RM4190. Unsurprisingly, netizens were dumbfounded by the ticket pricing. Many have taken to Twitter to air their frustration.

“Who tf is able to afford these prices in this economy?” one Twitterjaya resident commented. Others also compared the price of the 3-day passes of the upcoming music gala to the price of previous Good Vibes Fest tickets. “Good Vibes Festival 2013 vs Good Vibes Festival 2023. RM788 divide by 3 (days) = RM263 per day.  Almost an 105% price increase in a decade. Did your salary make a 105% jump in 10 years?” one questioned.

Read what they said:

kenapa good vibes mahal sangat wtf rm788 for early bird, you literally sell it for almost rm400 in 2019 and now its double the price??? (also yes i do actually wanna buy the ticket)

— aiza 🏴 (@nothallucional) February 20, 2023

In comparison, early bird tickets for Good Vibes Festival 2019 (pre-Covid) cost RM360 for 2-day passes, followed by RM390 (Phase 1), RM420 (Phase 2), RM450 (Phase 3). Fast forward to 2023, the 3-day passes are priced at RM788 (Phase 1), RM888 (Phase 2), and RM988 (Phase 3).

What a steep increase. I paid RM678 for the Good Vibes tix AND accommodation package in 2019 https://t.co/nE7AmMGvje

Tickets are on sale starting today. Judging from the comments, most are excited for The Strokes and only want to purchase a day pass. What about you?
