Freelance model Regina Soosalu, who has previously modelled for the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) and walked the runway for various shows, is believed to have died under mysterious circumstances at a resort on an island off Johor. Regina, who was living in Kuala Lumpur, was from Estonia (close to Russia). She was believed to have been on the island for a holiday.
Sources in the local modelling industry told The Rakyat Post that Regina died on 1st July but they were only informed on 6th July. Having said that, the cause of her death varies, based on different sources, ranging from drowning to illness.
Yesterday, her boyfriend, Tengku Alang Reza posted up the following on his Facebook status:
I am deeply saddened and totally heartbroken to confirm the worst tragedy of my life. Regina my love has passed away on July 1, in the holy month of Ramadan. She is my love, my best friend and will continue to be my inspiration for the rest of my life. Her heart was filled with greatness, love and compassion for all beings and life itself. Whichever faith or creed you may be, know that her energy/soul/spirit continues in this cruel world. Words can not express the emptiness and heartache I feel. Farewell for now, never goodbye. Till we meet again I love you My baby, you’ll always be in my heart X
Regina was last seen publically active on her Facebook on 29th June and on her Instagram on 30th June. Our hearts go out to her friends, family, and loved ones.

UPDATE:
Regina Soosalu was initially thought to have drowned when her body was discovered on a stretch of beach along Pulau Rawa in Johor on 1st July, the day she arrived on the island. However, news are now reporting that she was in fact found murdered.
The police are investigating the death as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code after discovering “suspicious” wounds on her body. Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said 6 suspects had been detained to assist with investigations so far:
All six were on the island on the day of the incident but I cannot reveal any more information as we are in the midst of our investigations. We have informed Interpol about the incident and we have left it to them to contact her family. I believe details were also supplied to the Estonian embassy in Beijing and they are communicating with the victim’s family about our investigations. Her body has been sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a post-mortem and we are waiting for the final reports.
Asked on the time and the exact location of the incident, SAC Hasnan declined to comment and said the police were still trying to fix the exact time of death.
He also said that the police have yet to bring Regina Soosalu’s boyfriend, Tengku Alang Reza Ibrahim in for questioning.
The Estonian Foreign Ministry, when contacted by e-mail, noted that it had been informed of the incident. “We have been in contact with the family of the deceased, and we are advising them on the necessary arrangements,” said spokesman Mariann Sudakov, adding that the Malaysian authorities were leading the investigations.
Meanwhile, a Facebook page named, “In Loving Memory Of Regina Soosalu” was set up about 13 hours ago and her friends have even put together a video to remember her by. Watch it here:
