Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is taking on an ambitious challenge with his “Langkah Muar” initiative, planning to run 200km from Muar to the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur. This run is his way of raising funds for community service centres in his constituency and protesting the lack of funding for opposition lawmakers.
In an Instagram reel posted to the community leader’s account, the politician shared his motivation for the run. He wants to draw attention to the funding issues faced by opposition MPs and support his community. Over the years, he has come up with various creative fundraising efforts.

For instance, he shaved his head bald after reaching a RM200K donation target to buy laptops for students in his constituency. The politician has also managed to raise over RM100K through his #ThunderBOLD challenge. He’s cooked and sold lasagna, and even modelled kurta for a brand to gather funds.
These efforts reflect his dedication to finding innovative ways to support his community. “Now, I am using my legs to raise funds in Muar and as a form of protest,” the 31-year-old politician said, highlighting the symbolic nature of his upcoming run.
This journey not only aims to support his constituency but also to draw attention to the need for fair funding for all parliamentary representatives. The handsome politician, who made history as Malaysia’s youngest minister, was only 25 years old when he joined the Cabinet in 2018.
