Malaysian fashion designers Rizman Nordin and Ruzaini Jamil, better known as Rizman Ruzaini, had a lot going on for them. Previously, the famous dressmakers and their team managed to get international supermodel Naomi Campbell to model one of their designs for Dubai Fashion Week, although they were nearly scammed by her people, unbeknownst to her.
Over the weekend, the fashion duo surprised fans that another global superstar wore their latest design and that superstar is none other than Mother Monster herself Lady Gaga! While many were excited to see the dress during her recent concert, some were against the idea that the Malaysian designers would agree to work with her. Here’s why:
Rizman Ruzaini posted a behind-the-scenes video of the creation of Lady Gaga’s custom-designed stage outfit that she wore during her “Americano” performance at her Las Vegas Residency. Both local and international fans were fascinated by the Grammy winner’s long, elegant Swarovski crystals embedded red dress and many congratulated the designers on their latest achievement.
However, not everyone was happy about this collaboration. Those on Instagram were proud of the two Malaysian designers and complimented the sparkly outfit. Those on Twitter were a bit more brutal with their criticism. Some commented that they could easily tell that the dress was designed by Malaysians as it looked similar to stage outfits worn by other artists for shows like “Gegar Vaganza”. Others called out the fashion duo for designing a dress for the “Applause” hitmaker as she’s been accused of being a Zionist.
At the time of writing, Rizman Ruzaini has yet to respond to the criticism they received online for their collaboration with Lady Gaga. Let’s hope that they won’t be hit with another controversy or this would not look good for the Malaysian brand.
