It’s no secret that the Japanese clothing brand NEIGHBORHOOD and German sportswear label adidas have been working closely with each other for years. It’s a partnership that has stayed strong and true for almost two decades.
In 2005, the two collaborated to create the adidas Superstar in celebration of the silhouette’s 35th anniversary. They created a truly unique pair of kicks – with only 300 pairs made available – which became a prized piece for both collectors and shoe lovers alike.
Now, as NEIGBORHOOD’s 30th anniversary draws near, the two have joined forces once again to turn back time and recreate the legendary design in an all-new colour palette. This “Ink Black” variation sticks close to the OG, but with a few slight changes.
The collab shoe features a sleek and stylish almost all-black design, perfect for those who love a simple but iconic look. It’s created with luxurious grained leather with suede on the 3-Stripes and heel patch.
The iconic skull graphic is located right by the heel, and the silhouette features the embossed white NEIGHBORHOOD logo and motto throughout. Made of solid plastic, the toe cap has a distinctive textured design that ensures adequate protection without detracting from the overall aesthetic.
Unlike the previous iteration, the Ink Black variation features white stitching alongside an off-white sole that helps break the black monotony of the sneaker.
And lastly, to celebrate their collaboration and pay a cheeky nod to its predecessor, the NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar features Japanese characters at the heel, which roughly translates to “2nd type.”
NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar Ink Black will be available on 22nd June for US$160 (~RM753) and can be purchased from adidas and selected retailers. Drop by the adidas website for more.
