If you’re a fan of the Taiwanese rock band F.I.R (飛兒樂團), then you’ll know the group’s three original members have had some issues with each other over the years. Unfortunately, it seems they have yet to put the rest behind them because member Real Huang (黃漢青) recently announced he’s doubling down on suing ex-bandmate Faye Zhan Wen-ting (詹雯婷).
Real, known more familiarly as Ah Qin (阿沁), previously filed a lawsuit against Faye for recording a conversation the two were in without his knowledge and stealing song credits. The guitarist claimed that he, Faye and bandmate Ian Chen (陳建寧) had jointly written the song “Sky”, from Faye’s 2017 album. However, Real accused Faye of not crediting him or Ian as co-writers and claiming sole credit for the song’s creation.

The Intellectual Property and Commercial Court of Taiwan had dismissed the case – but Real soon filed an appeal, showing his commitment to the case. Media outlets had interviewed Real about his motive for suing the singer, to which he said it was about respecting the creators. He clarified he wasn’t accusing Faye of plagiarism or invaliding her contribution to the song, adding he only wanted his and Ian’s names added to the song’s credits as co-creators to restore the truth.
The verdict to the appeal will be announced later this month. Real also said he would donate part of the compensation amount to a charity to help out musicians if he wins the case. It’s worth noting this isn’t the first legal case between the bandmates. Faye filed a lawsuit against Ian in 2019, claiming he had forged her signature in a contract. However, the charges were dropped – with Faye herself countersued for allegedly false allegations.
