If you have plans to travel alone, getting on a taxi to the airport can be expensive.
Instead of paying a hefty price for a taxi ride to the airport, you can now share your ride with other single travellers with the new airport taxi service app, “airport2u”.
The “airport2u” app allows passengers to book trips to KLIA or KLIA2 from a set destination and are able to share that ride with 2 other passengers in the same cab.
Apriman Darlis, co-creator and chief executive of “airport2u” said that riders would have to choose a pick-up point and a departure time at least 7 days in advance through the app. Currently, the app has 27 different pick-up points (mostly malls), all situated in the Klang Valley. By doing this, riders do not need to rely KL Sentral to get to the airport.
“The pick-up point will act like a bus terminal. We gather the passengers together,” said Lee Kong Yew, “airport2u”’s technical support manager and co-creator.
At the moment, the app has 35 drivers and all of them will driving multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs). Apriman also clarified that the service is only one-way to the airport, and that passengers will not be able to ride back to their pick-up point with the app.
