Nine months ago, Ryan Reynolds not only broke the news that Deadpool 3 was official, but also broke the internet with the announcement that Hugh Jackman would reprise his legendary role as Wolverine. Ever since then, we’ve been craving more information. For the longest time between the official announcement and day one of production, they’ve kept quiet about a lot of the information, until recently.
Despite their best efforts to keep a lid on details of the production, photos from the Deadpool 3 set have been leaked and spread across the internet like wildfire overnight. Here are a few things to take note of from these set images.
From images to behind-the-scenes stunts, fans caught their first glimpse of the new Deadpool 3. These recent images show the titular Merc with a Mouth and Experiment 10 duking it out, with Jackman seen throwing a severed dummy leg, resembling Deadpool’s leg.
The images’ dissemination started when Jackman and Reynolds shared photos of themselves sporting their new costumes on their respective Instagram pages with the caption, “Don’t blink.” From that point on, the floodgates of information on the new film were opened, as more and more images became available to the public. People were quick to notice that Jackman is now wearing the iconic yellow jumpsuit, and though we have yet to see him under the mask, comic fans couldn’t contain their excitement upon seeing the legendary actor.
However, it wasn’t just Jackman who got all the attention, as eagle-eyed fans noticed that Reynolds’ Deadpool now has a more vibrant red costume, contrasting with the dirtier look in the first two films, and a few new added details as well. One leaked image in particular sparked a heated debate across the internet, as a masked person can be seen behind a car sharing the frame with Reynolds. Many speculate that this is a younger version of Magneto, but many theorise that this is an alternate helmet used by the animators to give it some expressions, similar to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man mask.
However, it seems that the two main leads aren’t the only ones reprising their roles. On Friday, 7th July, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Jennifer Garner will be returning as Elektra in the same film after 20 years, seemingly confirming other surprise returns from the Fox-Marvel era of the early 2000s. Not only that, there are unconfirmed reports of other actors coming back, like Halle Berry as Storm, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, and even Channing Tatum making a quick cameo as Gambit. However, these are all speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.
