A few days ago, a certain customer went viral for making a scene at the CHAO HotPot Bar in Starling Mall. Netizens were appalled by his behaviour of yelling at a staff member, throwing a bill folder in her face and eventually dumping RM500 cash into the soup. And, this was allegedly all over a wrong order.
The customer did apologise, and attempted to make amends. However, CHAO HotPot Bar reportedly rejected his apology on the grounds that they refused to compromise with the customer. Since then, said customer has been lambasted for his actions. But recently, he tried to apologise for his actions again and to shed light on the incident one last time.

Yesterday (7th June), the customer took to his Facebook to officially put the matter to rest. He agreed that his actions were out of hand and regretful. “After I saw the video, I immediately admitted my mistake and faced it positively,” he stated. However, he also clarified that his apology had only been towards the female staff. “I promise that if I encounter similar incident again, I will respond more maturely,” he added.
But, the customer claimed that he and his friends had not been “treated the way consumers deserve” when they dined at the restaurant. “The manager said he had no solutions (to our complaints), but I didn’t ask for anything, including waiving (our bills),” he wrote. “The store did not respond to (its) customers’ demands, had an unprofessional attitude, and repeatedly served (the) wrong dishes.” The customer alleged that this had made tempers fray.
“It may be because I had preconceived ideas, assuming that I had entered a relatively high-end restaurant and expected a high-level of service. But, not only did that not happen, various problems (happened) during the meal and were not resolved,” he said. The customer also added that the waiter had responded loudly and unreasonably to him, which had made him angrier. He then promised to manage his emotions better in the future.

Curiously enough, some of these explanations were the same ones he had shared during a live stream after the incident, which CHAO HotPot Bar had already refuted in another post. And unsurprisingly, netizens are taking his latest ‘apology’ with a pinch of salt. Several have called him out, claiming his apology is “insincere“. But, others are encouraging his alleged change.
Well, we definitely do not condone his actions. However, allegedly reflecting on his actions is a step in the right direction, as long as he truly means it. Hopefully, he’ll think twice before acting out of anger next time.
