Following the debuts of first Hong Kong AV actresses, Erena So and Alice Wong, the Japanese adult film industry has been gaining a ton of publicity. With the increase of creators on OnlyFans and Asia’s biggest adult platform, SWAG, people have also started to become more accepting towards the AV industry.
Unbeknownst to many, there are actually a list of requirements a new AV actress has to fulfil before making her debut in the Japanese porn industry. AV directors has also standardise this so-called “list” when shooting their talents.
According to a Taiwanese AV researcher (一劍浣春秋) and writer for “Play NO.1” (the largest Chinese adult news platform), new AV actresses in this field are required to go through hair removal. Although pubic hair isn’t necessarily the top priority, their armpits, arms and legs must be smooth. The requirements also highlight that these Japanese AV actresses can’t even have hair on their fingers.
As hair removal is considered to be a ‘national etiquette’ in Japan, the AV industry likes to portray a clean image when it comes to their Japanese AV actresses. This is to avoid unsightly close-ups captured when the AV stars are filming an adult film. Apparently men might be turn off if they see hair on the lady’s fingers and arms.
The Taiwanese AV researcher said that Japanese porn fans are really picky. “Other than not being able to accept AV stars to have armpit, arms and legs hair, some AV companies would add more mandatory requirements to that list, like eyebrows, body hair, or even hairs on the fingers,” the insider added. “Not all AV actresses would have hair on their fingers, but if there is, it must be removed.”
