On Monday night (31st October), many netizens all over the world fell into panic. The reason for said panic? Apparently, Instagram was down! The well-loved app had allegedly suffered a glitch which caused crashing, lengthy loading time and accounts to be suspended.
If you thought your everyday user was alarmed, say nothing of those who rely on Instagram. Yup, plenty of influencers and internet celebrities faced their fair share of horror. This included local influencer Jenn Chia who later shared what her experience with the app glitching had been like.
Jenn had apparently decided to broach the topic while stuck in a jam after work. “I don’t know if any of you experienced this, but last night, one night,” she stressed, “I lost eight thousand followers.” It was understandably a shock.
“(If) one thousand followers unfollow me, it’s okay. It’s alright, you do you. (If) you don’t relate to my content, that’s fine,” Jenn said. However, “two thousand unfollowed” got a nervous laugh with a shaky “okay” out of her. Three to five thousand unfollowed left her screaming. So, it was easy enough to guess her reaction to losing eight thousand followers in a single go.
“I thought you all hated me,” the influencer shared, looking extremely earnest. “No need “so I’m Jenn” (her IG handle), I thought you all were like “so I’m zhen de hen (真的很, extremely) boring”. (I thought) that was why you unfollowed me.” She was clearly horrified at ‘losing’ her eight thousand followers, as evident by her dramatic gasp.
However, things are fine now. “It’s okay, it was a glitch,” Jenn added. “It all came back. Y’all still love me and I still love you.” While we’re also glad the glitch has been fixed, there’s no denying that it was certainly a ‘scary’ experience. We guess it fit in really well for Halloween!
