There is a good reason why romance dramas are usually the rage in the market. There’s simply no denying that people are inherently fascinated with love. Be it their own or someone else’s, people simply can’t get enough of it. Take Malaysian shuttler Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) for instance.
For those not in the know, fans are convinced Zii Jia likes Thai shuttler Pornpawee Chochuwong (พรปวีณ์ ช่อชูวงศ์), nicknamed Mew/May. They previously dug up evidence for their claims. Although it died down after Mew denied it, a recent throwaway comment from Zii Jia has brought the rumours back.
The recent Indonesia Masters saw a slew of food poisoning cases which affected Thai and Malaysian players. One of the victims was Mew. Photos of those affected went viral and they were seen getting treatment in a hospital. Thankfully, none of the cases were serious and the players soon recovered from the affliction.
Mew chose to update her fans about her condition yesterday (13th June) with a quick photo. It showed her healthy and smiling as she posed for the camera. However, that wasn’t all fans noticed. As it turns out, Zii Jia left a comment on her post. “Are you ok?” he asked, adding a laughing emoji. Mew was quick to respond with a “Better bro!”
Zii Jia’s comment doubled as an inquiry after her health, and a nod to their little inside joke. The duo have always been famous for joking around using the phrase “Okok“. However, fans were quick to jump on the joke, cooing about how sweet they were.
Some questioned Mew’s response, asking why she had referred to Zii Jia as “bro”. A netizen jokingly suggested Zii Jia had been put in the “bro zone”. Other fans advised Zii Jia on how to win Mew’s heart. “Actions speak louder than words… deliver some food or fruit,” one suggested. Another stated Zii Jia should give Pocky instead.
If the throwaway comment wasn’t enough to fuel the rumours, some also suspect the ring on Mew’s finger may have been given to her by a certain someone. However, neither shuttler has commented on their relationship since.
Well, whether its a romantic or platonic relationship, we’re sure the duo know what they’re doing. On our end, we simply hope Mew feels much better and has completely recovered from the food poisoning.
