Wednesday was a sad day for over 800 staffs of Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd as their contract with the publishing company had come to an end.
The termination of the their contract was due to the publishing company’s ongoing financial difficulties. As a result, all of the employees were asked to clear their belongings and vacate the office.
The sudden news was addressed by Executive Chairman, Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir. As written by AmazingNara, the company has decided to announce their voluntary bankruptcy.
The gloomy atmosphere during the occasion was captured by the local news outlet’s photographer. The pictures were then uploaded by a Facebook user known as Encik Info Dot Com.

As mentioned earlier, Utusan has been facing critical financial issues over the past few years. As a result, the company was forced to delay the payment of current and past employee’s salaries before deciding to ultimately cease their operations on Wednesday (9th October).
