Searching for a chill-friendly spot in Penang to spend your getaway? Perhaps you’d like to consider the newly-opened DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang.
DoubleTree has always been known to add a personal touch into each visitor’s travel experience – this latest outlet is no different. The members of the media were recently invited to attend the media preview event at DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang.
Since welcoming its first guest on 1st January 2018, DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang has had an encouraging occupancy rate. “We offer 316 rooms, conference and event facilities, a ballroom which could accommodate up to 550 guests as well as three function spaces covering an area of more than 5,000 square feet (sq ft). We are confident that our local community and guests will be captivated by our renowned Care – ‘Creating A Rewarding Experience’ standard of hospitality,” said General Manager Linda Giebing.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was also present at the event. “This is truly an exciting day for Penang. Of all the beautiful states in Malaysia, we are proud to be home to the country’s very first DoubleTree Resort,” he said.
Following in the footsteps of Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Melaka, DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang marks the brand’s 4th hotel in Malaysia, and the 50th outlet to open in Asia Pacific. After experiencing what the new property has to offer, we’ve come up with 5 reasons to visit DoubleTree Resort By Hilton when you’re in Penang.
1. This chocolate chip cookie tastes damn good!
Have you ever received a hotel cookie? This hotel chain is well known for offering free chocolate chip cookies to guests as a symbol of warmth. Everyday, warm chocolate chip walnut cookies are pulled out of DoubleTree’s warming drawers at various locations. Are they any good? Cookies that are both warm and free are rarely bad. Whenever you’re craving for some chocolate chip goodness, just walk to the front desk and request for a cookie.
2. Let your inner kid out at TeddyVille Museum
A unique factor about this Hilton property that you can’t find anywhere else is the fact that it houses Malaysia’s first and largest teddy bear-themed museum, TeddyVille Museum. At this attraction, you can find teddy bears from various nations and eras – some even as early as the 1900s.
Inside the 9000 sq ft exhibit are different sizes (from miniature teddies to human sized ones) that mirror the rich culture and scenery of Penang. There are even five feet tall teddy bears that represent famous Malaysian icons. They include Datuk Nicol David and Datuk Lee Chong Wei. TeddyVille Museum is also prove that you’re never too old to have a fun-filled experience with some teddies.

3. Comfy rooms
The 316 family-focused rooms can be divided into 4 categories: Guestroom, Deluxe, Family, and Suite (featuring partial or full sea views, balcony, sofa bed in twin room and motion sensors). Guests also have the option to connect up to 2 rooms with the privacy of shared hallways. We like that each room and hallway has a Peranakan frame attached – that provided a nice touch. Do note that only bath tubs are available in the suites. However, you will find a walk-in rain shower with glass feature wall in the toilet.
4. Take a dip in the pool or work out at their 24-hour Fitness Centre
If you’re visiting with kids, pool time is usually a must. At DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang you’ll find a 350 sqm landscaped outdoor pool with an artificial beach that is designed in a shape of a woman. Not far from it is an even more exciting Kids Pool and Kids Wet Play Area.
For those who are looking to break a sweat, you can find a 24-hour Fitness by Precor located on level 1 (just beside The Spa). There are treadmills, dumbbells, and other arm equipments available here to suit your choice of workout.
5. Makan Kitchen
Craving for something Asian? Makan Kitchen has it all, you name it – Malay, Chinese, Indian, and even Peranakan delights. That’s not all, the eatery also offers international favourites crafted by the chefs. Dining options include breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner. Of course, you can always opt to explore Penang for authentic cuisines.
The resort provides 2 shuttle services every day. The first is to George Town at 11am while the other destination is Batu Ferringhi at 6pm. Patrons are advised to make early reservations as it’s only 10 pax per trip based on a first come first served basis.
DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang is situated at 56, Jalan Low Yat, Batu Ferringhi, Penang 11100, Malaysia. For more information, visit their website or call +60-4-892 8000.
