Remember when the internetz was filled with people sharing random show-stopping, disruptive videos of wheels of cheese being melted onto/over food? And who can forget this popular video of pasta being made in a giant cheese wheel in NYC? That’s right. Cheese is on a whole new level these days. In fact, we’re practically living in the melted cheese renaissance.
Closer to home, some of our local “chefs” are already beginning to emulate the gooey cheesiness that has taken the world by storm.
Malaysian foodies (and cheese lovers!) would be pleased to know that a food vendor in Penang has be serving up their signature melted cheese burger that’s all the rage these days. Who, what, when, where, how, why, you ask?
At Street Grill Burger (Burger Bakar Penang), patrons can choose between the chicken, beef, or mutton patties for their burger, which will be marinated before being grilled on hot stone. Once it’s cooked and removed from fire/heat, the patty will then be slathered with layer of creamy mayonnaise, followed by a generous pouring of melted mozzarella cheese, and finally sandwiched between two soft burger buns packed with chilli sauce and fresh vegetables.

All. That. Cheese. And for only RM8.50 a pop! We’re salivating already.
Note: As they operate from a humble food truck (in front of the Honda showroom at Lengkok Sungai Pinang), the queues can get pretty long so be sure to rock up as early as possible to avoid a crazy crowd.
Wanna give a go? The melted cheese burger is available at Street Grill Burger (Burger Bakar Penang), 128, Lengkok Sungai Pinang, 11600, Jelutong, Pulau Pinang. The food truck is open Mondays to Saturdays from 6pm onwards, and is closed every Sunday.
